Dandelion for Baby Jaundice

Jaundice is a common condition in newborns that causes their skin to become yellow due to the build up of a pigment called bilirubin. While most cases of jaundice resolve on their own, it can be treated naturally with naturopathic techniques such as herbal remedies and dietary modifications.

Herbal Remedies:

Milk thistle, dandelion root, nettle leaf and burdock are all herbs that can help support the liver's detoxification process. These herbs can be taken as a tea or tincture several times throughout the day to improve jaundice symptoms.

Dietary Modifications:

Foods rich in vitamin C, such as citrus fruits, bell peppers and dark leafy greens, can help the body produce more of a protein called albumin which helps to reduce bilirubin levels. Consider adding foods like these to your baby's diet as well as increasing their intake of clean water.

Other Tips:

Sunlight is thought to have a beneficial effect on jaundice and can help to reduce bilirubin levels. Make sure your baby has some sun exposure each day in a safe, monitored way. Additionally, consider supplementing with probiotics to encourage healthy bacteria growth in the gut which helps support the liver's detoxification process.

By following these natural tips and remedies, you can help support your baby's jaundice symptoms. Always consult with your physician before trying any naturopathic remedies for jaundice to ensure safety and effectiveness.
